Prepare for your Sabbath
It’s easier than you think. God commands us to do something impossible.

First, identify a twenty-hour block of time. Most Christians will do Saturday or Sunday though but the day doesn’t matter as much as the practice.

Second, make a list of what delights you. Sabbath is a blessing because you have a chance to enjoy all that God has created and done through your work. Now's the time to delight in it. What do you like to do?

Third, prepare in advance. It’s basically organized non-productivity. Only the Sabbath you work for will be worth keeping. So you may need to do your grocery shopping, bill-paying, grass mowing, or whatever you consider to be work prior to your Sabbath.

Fourth, experiment and make the necessary changes. What will make this Sabbath day different from business as usual on the other six days? What do you need to do to protect your ability to rest on this day? Don’t be legalistic. Don’t assume what works for you works for everyone else. And don’t assume what works for everyone else works for you. You’ll try and fail. No worries! God is gracious! Experiment and find what works for you.
